Who: All Central Texas Elementary School Students
(K-5th Grades in Bastrop, Burnet, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, and Williamson Counties)

Submission Deadline: March 29, 2019 Print Brochure

The intent of the poster contest is to promote ways to increase awareness of the connection between transportation and the environment by engaging K-5th grade school children within the Central Texas region. The purpose is to see through these young minds how they would use Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) skills to design safe transportation solutions and alternatives that would in turn improve the human and natural environment. Since transportation impacts the human and natural environment in many ways including safety and the environment, the contest winners will be announced on Earth Day, April 22.

Also, in addition to bringing awareness to the link between transportation and the human and natural environment, this poster contest will hopefully open the communication lines between students, teachers, and parents regarding future transportation career choices and the importance of transportation on our daily lives.

Use this checklist to make sure all entries are eligible for judging:
  • All entries must be created by Central Texas Elementary School students.
  • Each entry MUST include the student’s first and last name, grade #, teacher’s name, and school name on the back of the artwork. The entry must be the original artwork of the student whose name is on the piece.
  • The size of the artwork must be NO LARGER than 11” x 17”. Smaller sizes are acceptable as well.
  • As much as possible, please ensure the quality of the artist’s scanned or photographed drawing is not diminished when submitting as JPEG, PNG or PDF on this website. High resolution images are recommended.
  • The artwork must be related to this year’s theme of “Transportation and the Environment for the 21st Century.”
  • Entries may be done in marker, ink, crayon, colored pencil, watercolor, acrylic, or tempera paint.
